Veramar Vineyard, the Bogaty family’s first winery, opened to the public in 2000, and Justin Bogaty came on as winemaker the next year. From the earliest days of the business, each decision and each project has been done with the goal of creating a sustainable family business that can be passed down from generation to generation. The family believe strongly in investing in the future of their family’s passion and avoiding trends and fads that can distract from their mission of creating world-class, enduring wines.
Currently, the Veramar estate has 24 acres under vine, mostly on eastern-facing slopes at about 150 meters above sea level and about one mile from the Shenandoah River.

Justin Bogaty is a renowned winemaker who has been making wine for over two decades. He is the head winemaker at Bogaty Family Wine Group in Virginia, where he has been crafting award-winning wines since 2006.

Justin grew up in a family of wine lovers and developed a passion for winemaking early on. His first degree is a B.A. from Virginia Military In (VMI). He also holds an Enology Certificate from the University of California, Davis (U.C. Davis).

As the head winemaker at Bogaty Family Wine Group, Justin is known for his commitment to quality and his dedication to the art of winemaking. He believes in letting the grapes speak for themselves and strives to create wines that are true expressions of the vineyard.

Justin specializes in producing small-batch, handcrafted wines that showcase the unique terroir of Virginia. He is particularly skilled at working with Bordeaux varietals such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot, as well as Rhône varietals like Viognier and Syrah.

Under Justin's leadership, Bogaty Family Wine Group has won numerous awards for their wines,  Justin's wines have been praised for their depth, complexity, and balance, and he is considered one of the top winemakers in Virginia. Justin has over 30+ wines Virginia wines with 85 points or higher from Wine Enthusiast Magazine.

White

The 2021 D’Ora is a sweet and supple dessert wine that is made from Vidal Blanc grapes. These grapes have been “kissed by the frost,” provoking a sweet hint on the nose. With touches of pear and apricot, this wine finishes on the dryer side and will leave your palate with a lingering sweetness.

The Pink Chicken, a light rose brilliant, lively, strawberry in color with flavor of sweet grapefruit & strawberries and finishes on the palate is of pomegranate and berry fruits which will fill your mouth.

Seyval Blanc Blend

Modeled after Verdot white, The Founder white is a mineral driven blend. By combining Sauvignon and Seyval Blanc, the Founder white is a bright and lively wine with zesty sensations and pleasant, gentle tartness.

This wine is a perfect match of acidity and sweetness. The bold fruit flavors that are typically associated with Riesling’s are enhanced by the mild sweetness. This wine is a blend of 25% Riesling and 75% Vidal Blanc

Riesling-Vidal Blanc

A wine that is full of life, the “Rooster” is a blend of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Malbec. This wine is superbly balanced and tastes of red berries, earthy tones and intriguing spices. This wine is extremely complex and bold, much like a "Bordeaux Blend." After an aromatic nose of black pepper and lavender, you’ll notice peppery sensations along with plum and chili pepper on the palate.

Rooster Red

This vintage was aged in oak and holds a very bold, rich, a full-bodied flavor. Up front you will get hints of soft vanilla and tangy pineapple. It finishes on a smooth and buttery note and leaves you wanting to take another sip.

This crisp, fruit forward white wine is a great choice for any time. Seyval Blanc is a fruity and dry wine with a slight citrus twinge of lemon and grapefruit.

Silky and smooth, this Cabernet Franc has a luxurious mouth-feel. You get a hint of vanilla and cocoa on the nose, the flavor of blackberries and black cherry with a touch of cinnamon, and a long, lingering finish that leaves the palate satisfied and longing for more!

Our JB Carménère 2021 is a captivating and powerful wine that showcases the remarkable potential of this unique grape variety. Hailing from the esteemed vineyards of Virginia, this Carménère reflects the region's distinctive terroir and winemaking expertise, resulting in a wine that is both bold and sophisticated.

Cabernet Franc Blend

In this wine 'The Founder' we have used all five of the Bordeaux wines. Cabernet Sauvignon is used for power, structure and aging potential. Merlot is used for rich fruit flavors and as a smoothing agent. Cabernet Franc is used for smoothing texture and adding earthiness. Malbec is used for dark rich color. Petit Verdot is used for structure and body.
